Adriaen Brouwer was a Flemish painter known for his genre scenes depicting peasants, soldiers, and other lower-class figures in taverns and other everyday settings. His expressive brushwork and keen observation of human behavior brought a new level of realism and psychological depth to genre painting, influencing later artists in the Dutch Golden Age.
