Apprentice ("the Service") is an AI-guided art study tool that operates as a ChatGPT app. It is built and operated by Reducibl ("we", "us", "our"). This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.

2. Information We Collect

  • Profile information: Skill level, preferred mediums, interests, and learning goals you provide when setting up your profile.
  • Study progress: Learning lists, series enrollment, queue items, completion status, and reflections.
  • Submitted images: Photos of your artwork attempts and self-portraits that you upload through the Service.
  • Usage data: Which tools you use and when, for service improvement.

3. How We Store Your Data

Your data is stored in Google Cloud Firestore and Google Cloud Storage, hosted in the United States. Images you upload are stored in Firebase Storage (Google Cloud Storage). We use industry-standard security practices to protect your data.

4. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with:

  • OpenAI / ChatGPT: The Service runs as a ChatGPT app. Your conversations with Apprentice are processed by OpenAI under their privacy policy.
  • Google Cloud: Data storage and server infrastructure.
  • WikiArt: Artwork images in the catalog are sourced from WikiArt and other public-domain sources.
  • Auth0: Authentication and identity management.

5. Public Gallery (Opt-In)

When submitting artwork or self-portraits, you may choose to share them publicly by opting in with the "Share publicly" option. Only submissions you explicitly mark as public will appear in the gallery. You can control this on a per-submission basis. We do not display your name or personal information alongside public submissions unless you choose to provide it.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us. Upon request, we will delete your profile, study progress, and submitted images within 30 days.

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
