Jean Metzinger was a major 20th-century French painter, theorist, writer, critic and poet, who along with Albert Gleizes, wrote the first theoretical treatise on Cubism, Du "Cubisme". His early work reflected Divisionism and Fauvism before transitioning to Cubism, where he explored fragmentation and multiple perspectives.
