Begin with accurate drawing of the profile, paying attention to proportions of nose, eye, and mouth
Block in the major shadow shapes on face and hair with mid-tone colors
Establish the darkest darks in the hair and deepest shadows
Add the lightest lights on forehead, nose, and cheekbone
Model the subtle transitions between light and shadow on the face
Refine hair texture with varied warm and cool browns
Paint the white collar with careful attention to reflected light
Soften edges and blend transitions for realistic skin surface
