approach — 8 steps

  1. step 01

    Sketch the basic composition, focusing on the placement of the bandstand, trees, and building.

  2. step 02

    Define the main shapes and areas of light and shadow.

  3. step 03

    Transfer the sketch to a linoleum block.

  4. step 04

    Carve out the white areas, paying attention to the direction and thickness of the lines to create texture.

  5. step 05

    Ink the block with a dark brown or black ink.

  6. step 06

    Print the image onto paper.

  7. step 07

    Add a second layer of light blue ink for the snow and sky.

  8. step 08

    Allow to dry.
