approach — 8 steps
Lightly sketch the basic shapes of the mountains and the hut.
Apply a diluted wash of brown/grey to the entire paper to create an aged effect.
Using a larger brush, apply a light wash of diluted brown/grey to the mountains, leaving some areas lighter to suggest highlights.
Add darker values to the shaded areas of the mountains and rocks, building up depth with multiple layers.
Use a smaller brush to add details such as the trees, waterfall, and the structure of the hut.
Create the stream and foreground with light washes and small, deliberate strokes.
Add the dark foliage on the rocks with short, quick strokes.
Include the calligraphy and seal in the bottom right corner (optional, but adds authenticity).
