    Paint the distant mountains with diluted greens and blues, allowing colors to blend on the paper.

  4. step 04

    Layer darker greens and browns for the trees, using varied brushstrokes to suggest foliage.

  5. step 05

    Mix a purple-gray color for the river reflections and apply with loose, horizontal strokes.

  6. step 06

    Add details to the foreground trees with slightly darker values and dry brush strokes.

  7. step 07

    Define the edges of the riverbanks with subtle washes of brown and ochre.

    Add final highlights and shadows to enhance the depth and form.
