technical profile
approach — 8 steps
Lightly sketch the horizon line, the figure, and the basic shapes of the hills.
Apply a light wash of diluted blue for the sky, leaving some areas white for clouds.
Mix a light yellow-brown for the distant hills and apply a thin wash.
Create a darker, warmer brown for the foreground hills and apply a wash, leaving some areas lighter.
While the foreground wash is still damp, drop in darker brown and green pigments to create texture and shadows.
Use a dry brush technique with darker browns and greens to add details to the vegetation and rocks.
Paint the figure with a dark blue-black, paying attention to the simple shapes and shadows.
Add final details and highlights to the vegetation and figure.
