Agostino Carracci was an Italian painter, printmaker, and art theorist, central to the Bolognese School of painting. Along with his brother Annibale and cousin Ludovico, he helped establish the Carracci Academy, which promoted a synthesis of Renaissance and Baroque styles and emphasized drawing from life.
